Who We Are

Citra is a design studio rooted in place, atmosphere, and ritual. Founded by longtime collaborators Rachel Gant and Andrew Deming—the duo behind YIELD—our work moves fluidly between objects, interiors, and the built environment. We approach design as a quiet form of care: creating things meant to be kept, lived with, and returned to.

Citra encompasses a growing body of work—spaces, objects, and soon, a collection of sensory-driven goods for daily life. Our work has been featured in The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Wallpaper, & Dwell, and honored by Sight Unseen’s American Design Hot List, The Dieline Awards, the German Design Award, and more.

Citra works across disciplines to shape enduring experiences and environments. Our practice encompasses:

Residential & Commercial Design — Architecture, interiors, and custom furnishings that balance proportion, atmosphere, and longevity.

Hospitality — From concept to property management, we create spaces where design, service, and community converge.

Products & Fragrance — Perfumes, apothecary goods, and select objects that bring Citra's sensibility into daily life.

Stewardship — Long-term care and evolution of our spaces, ensuring they grow richer with time and use.

Rachel Gant, Co-Founder
Rachel is an industrial designer trained first in architecture, and it shows in how she works: objects, spaces, food, and scent treated as one problem. She studied architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and earned her industrial design degree at CCA in San Francisco. For over a decade she led design at YIELD, carrying every product from first sketch through final sourcing — furniture, housewares, jewelry, fragrance, all designed in-house. That range has only widened since. She leads material and design decisions across every project and serves as culinary director at Bar Citra, where her palate shapes the menu the same way her eye shapes a room. Her work is marked by restraint and material sensitivity, producing designs that feel settled rather than styled.

Andrew Deming, Co-Founder
Andrew is a designer, entrepreneur, and strategist with a background in graphic design and an MBA in Design Strategy. Where Rachel refines, Andrew drives, pushing ideas into action and carrying them through. His work spans the full arc of a project: defining strategy, spotting opportunity, shaping goals, then wrapping the finished thing in brand, packaging, and marketing. He currently leads buildouts and property renovations from the ground up, part designer, part general contractor, overseeing procurement, design, and build with equal attention to how it looks and how it lasts.

“They’re bringing together the perfect combination of design and food, and we’re obsessed.”

"The most beautiful designs are rarely the most accessible and affordable, but that’s where [their] magic lies: They make planters and housewares — and as of late, furniture and lighting — that we not only want to live with, but actually can."
